All I can say is my daughter is a brilliant cook - by that, I don't mean lentils - I mean tarts and pastries and pies and other kinds of yumminess. I might have overindulged in her treats last weekend. I need to limit myself to one tiny bite next time. :)
I do have a goal for getting myself in shape. Goals are good right? My doctor is giving me six months to get my cholesterol down before he asks me to go on medication. I know what to do, and I know it's time to do it. It's time for oatmeal...yum?
As for writing, I'm taking it one word at a time.

DeleteI actually love oatmeal. Do your best, but cholesterol levels are mostly genetic and it's very difficult to fix them with diet alone.
ReplyDeleteMine has proven to be self-induced. I got mine down from a much higher starting number with just diet and exercise about ten years ago.
DeleteMy description of oatmeal in a story: it looks like dry cereal someone's already eaten and spit back into the bowl. Ick. But I did somewhat enjoy the Kashi apple oatmeal. It helped to get a little single container of applesauce and dump it in to make it extra apple-y.
ReplyDeleteI only like the 5 minute oatmeal because the consistency is not vomit-like. And I use a little less water - I don't like it to be gooey - and put frozen fruit on it when it's done and then put a lid on it for about 5 minutes so the fruit thaws out a little. Yummy.

ReplyDeleteMy husband and I raked our back yard for about two hours and did it old school - no leaf blowers, no bag on a lawn mower.

ReplyDeleteSlow but steady, wins the race... and yes, one sit-up at a time! A bite-sized but achievable approach...
I just bought her a really great cookbook - I think I gained weight just reading through it. :/

DeleteI would never call that a lame post. Also, my husband had trouble getting his cholesterol under control. He is now on Vitamin D and that solved it. Go figure.
ReplyDeleteI think oatmeal is yummy. I changed by habits several years ago. I know feel better and work better as a consequence. Zoning out during workouts is often good for my WIPs, too.
