At the End

For two out of three days this weekend, I had a headache that wasn't quite a migraine, but it was bad enough that I couldn't write much. I did manage to write three new chapters and got to about 71,000 words once my headache passed.

I've never reached 67,000 words in one story before, so this is huge for me.

I tried to write at the pool, but it was really crowded with lots of distractions.  I couldn't focus on my novel, so I jotted down ideas for my next story and ended up writing a chapter of it.  Eventually I got lost in it, and whenever I looked up, this guy was staring at me like he was trying to figure out what I was trying to do.  "I'm writing, dude, what does it look like," is what I wanted to say.  Instead I kept writing.

I won't be getting around much this week - I am very close to the end of my novel and really want to get it done by Friday.

Today (please, God, let it be today), I will write the chapter that begins the last day of the story, the day when everything goes to hell for my MC and everyone around her.  It's so exciting!

And next week I'll be on vacation.  My plan is to go unplugged - no laptop, no gadgets other than my phone - just my favorite pen and a journal with lots of blank pages so I can start something new.  We will know the world is coming to an end if my husband goes on vacation without devices - so I may do some writing and blog-commenting from his fancy pants iPad or whatever he brings with him (hopefully our crappy laptop that won't be missed if it gets sand in its parts).

I will come back with pictures.  We are officially turtle volunteers - hopefully we'll find a nest or will see some baby turtles bust out and head for the ocean.

Have a great week!

    1. I'm planning on writing on vacation. I just need a break from everything else (as if I'm not going to be cooking and doing laundry on vacation). :)
