Dads

Things I love about my dad:
  • I always know, no matter what, we always have a place at his house.
  • He always is willing to make time for us.
  • He is non-judgmental and would never hurt us.
  • He is who he is and doesn't pretend to be someone he isn't.
  • He loves his grandchildren and shows it in small ways.
  • He has infinite patience.
  • He is quirky in a way that is endearing.
  • He is amazingly generous.
  • He always acts out of good will and love.

Things I love about my husband as a father to my kids:
  • He makes his kids his top priority and is unapologetic about it.
  • He is the only stepdad among my teenager's friends that refer to him as a cool stepdad and not an a-hole.
  • He thinks it's his job to change all the poopy diapers.
  • When the kids are sick, he feels it the same way I do.
  • He is who he is and doesn't pretend to be someone he isn't.
  • He is an amazing example of kindness and generosity for my kids.
  • He refers to his step-children as his children and means it.
  • He loves his kids and shows it in small ways every day.
  • He has infinite patience.
  • He is quirky in a way that is endearing.
  • He is amazingly generous.
  • He always acts out of good will and love.

I didn't realize until I just wrote this how alike they are.

  1. They do say that men marry their 'mom'. Maybe the same is true for women?

  4. @Kid - Thank you. Novel is on pause - sick kids and family chaos must come first. Luckily, I did a very detailed design up front, so I can pick up where I stopped. Edits on last novel also on pause. I'm giving myself an end of the year deadline, so I'll get it all done. :)
