R is for Resilience

Resilience is the capability of a strained body to recover its size and shape after deformation caused especially by compressive stress (got this cool definition here).  Yesterday I felt especially compressed and stressed more than once.  I choose not to tell the details here for fear it will increase the stress and the deformation.  And I promised.  So I won't.  But I fear holding in the stress will increase the compression and reduce the likelihood I will return to normal.  Risky.

However, since my deformation is metaphorical, I suppose all I need to do is tell myself I will return to normal at an arbitrary time after a period of brooding that isn't long enough to change me.  Like overnight.  By the time you read this, I will have willed myself back to my original form.  I choose to bounce back.  I choose not to let this day get me or change me in any permanent way.  I choose to be resilient by 8:00 A.M. on Thursday.

(I just had a bad day, but that's not an R word.)

  2. I actually wasn't able to will the dent out of my ego last night or this morning.

And I don't know how to make lemonade out of all the lemons thrown at me yesterday, so I wrote a poem instead. :/
