Purpose

I feel like I'm going to have a great year.  I always have things to write, but sometimes what to focus on is an issue because I have so many things partially done.  It makes me feel a little lost and I jump around from one project to the next each month.

This week my CP gave me her thoughts on the ending of my previous WIP.  I have some revisions to do - I need to introduce a couple of characters and a subplot sooner (the fact is I hadn't thought of it until the end of the first draft, so that's where I put them).  I've never been more excited to start revisions.  It's close.  Pretty close.  Maybe not as close as I think, but close enough.

It feels awesome to have two achievable goals for the next five or six months and a clear sense of purpose (besides doing the laundry and wiping a small nose and butt):  to finish my current WIP and complete the (hopefully) final edits on my last WIP.

I feel like I'm at the starting gate for a very long marathon, one that I know I'll finish without too much trouble.

I know a lot of you are running the same sort of race.  It's exciting to see so many of you get published, especially two of you that live close to me.  I feel very hopeful to be joining you at the finish line (as if there really is an end to all of this work).

  1. You will join us, Tonja! Glad you're excited about the revisions. That's always been my favorite part of the process.
And yes, I will give your suggestion from Wednesday serious thought!

  4. It is a marathon, isn't it? Though I think I started walking at about mile marker fifteen. We'll both get to the finish one of these days. :)
