Hobbitfest

It's Hobbitfest time!!!  My teen wants to go to the midnight showing with me.  If I were up for standing in line and sitting really close to people, I'd do it.  I'm thinking a noon show on a Tuesday might be more my speed.
Blogger is being fussy with me lately and won't let me load the image, but this fun little blogfest is hosted by Tyrean Martinson and M Pax.

What is your favorite hobbit characteristic/or the one that you think closely resembles you . . .?
Definitely their affinity for multiple meals is my favorite characteristic.  I might be sort of like that.

If you could choose between a scrumptious second breakfast and a perilous unexpected journey – which would you prefer?
Second breakfast.  I like unexpected journeys but never perilous ones.

Have you ever left behind something on a journey (expected or unexpected) and wished you could have it over and over again? (a pocket handkerchief?)
This summer, I lost the keys to my new and awesome minivan (that's right) minutes before we were supposed to check out of our beach house (12 hours from our real house).  We searched for an hour and gave up (husband had the spare key so we made it home).  I bemoaned the loss of the key until a week later when I found it in the bag my husband and I each searched through repeatedly.  I'm pretty sure there's a portal in that bag.  It's zipped and locked just in case....

What is your Favorite part or quote from the book that you hope will be in the movie?
I loved the dwarves and the scene where they go one at a time to the one guy's house - the grumpy one that doesn't like visitors (can't remember the name).  I hope that plays out the way it did in my mind.

  1. Yeah, I don't do midnight showings either. Too many people and it's way past my bedtime.
Maybe that was a bag of holding that held your keys?

  2. I'm so looking forward to this movie! But, no, I won't go until sometime mid-week at noon, when it's a little less crowded. And I'd be torn between second breakfast and adventure. I like both. :)

  3. I can't do this blatant money grab disguised as a movie. There's no reason this should be a trilogy, let alone a trilogy of 3-hour movies.

  4. I'm certain there's a portal in there. Cheeky things, aren't they?

  5. I actually loved sitting in a crowded theatre with a bunch of Hobbit enthusiasts - we had a lot of fun before the show.
And I understand about the portal in the purse . . .I've had that happen to me, and it's so frustrating.
    Thanks for joining Hobbit Fest!

  6. I used to go to midnight movies. Then I got old and found that sleep is much better.

  7. I'm with you on avoiding the perilous part. I get the portal thing. Some of my things are still sucked down the portal.

  8. Yep. A portal in your handbag explains it. I'm convinced there are countless of those little rogue buggers making life difficult for us.

  9. I agree with you, their eating habits are my favourite too. Enjoy the movie.

  10. You're talking about when Thorin and then the rest of the dwarves, two by two went to Bilbo's house. I like that part because that's where we meet them all.

Keys have a way of doing that to us, Tonja, they really do. You search in the same spot over and over - and that's where they turn up later.

  13. I'm also a big fan of second breakfast -- and I always like that scene with Beorn, too. We read The Hobbit every year in my 8th grade English class, and I never get tired of it.

  14. Love the story about searching the bag. Happens with students all the time at school. They say someone stole something from them. I say search your bag or purse. They say they did. A little while later they find it right there.

  15. Ha ha loosing and finding keys (for that matter anything) is a favourite pass time with me.

  16. That has happened to me a few times too - you've searched something a million times and not found it, then it shows up in that very spot later!
