I've been really motivated this month to make progress on my writing. Apparently all I needed was a project plan. I got behind schedule last week and made up for it over the weekend and earlier this week. I'm very excited to say I only have 40 pages left to edit on my latest WIP before I give the last few chapters to my CP - and I only have about 60 pages of her novel to critique.
Yesterday morning I noticed my back was really stiff. I decided to ignore it until I got two more chapters edited. It got worse. An hour before I was supposed to leave for my writing class, I realized something was very wrong. So I stretched. And the pain was profoundly worse, so bad that the only thing that didn't hurt was to stand still with my arms at my side. Not good.
So I'm done. I couldn't go to class. I couldn't write more. These few words are killing me.
I've been avoiding medications over the last week since it makes my head fuzzy.
For the rest of the week, I'm going to be fuzzy. Hopefully I can edit some chapters between doses.
I will visit when I can. I miss you all already.
That stinks. Feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteYou need one of those voice programs where you just talk and it types. Dragon I think it's called.
ReplyDeleteHope you feel better so you can finish your manuscript!
When I write I have to write in different places because of my back. I so know how you're feeling. Feel better.
ReplyDeleteOh that's terrible, I'm so sorry. BUT maybe the fact that you've been so on-top-of-things can help make up a little for the worktime you'll lose over the next few days. Hope you feel better soon!!
ReplyDeleteGet better soon.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Shelly
oh no! Just when you're on a roll, you get zapped with something. Was it because of the hours spent writing? Hope you feel better soon and get back to writing quickly.
ReplyDeleteI hope you heal quickly, Tonja. Take care of yourself.
ReplyDeleteI've got a terrible back and the best advice I've had is keep moving, no matter how gently, every 20-30 minutes. Write in different positions, even standing, not for too long, and one of those microwaveable gel packs is amazing pain relief. Hope it eases up soon!
ReplyDeleteTake care of yourself!! Feel better soon! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry, that sounds terribly painful. Take care; I hope it passes soon. I have serious back issues and am still trying to figure out how best to write to keep the pain at bay. Still haven't gotten there. The Relax the Back Store has some interesting items I'd like to try, though.
ReplyDeleteI hope you get bettter quickly! Yay for your progress though.
ReplyDeleteAwww--I hope you feel better very soon! Take care of yourself, though. It's all for naught if you aren't feeling right. The editing can wait. Besides, editing with fuzzy head might not make good editing, right? So amend the schedule and do what you need to do for you :) Here's to feeling better!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you got so much accomplished. It sounds like it's time to stretch and ease up on the writing.
ReplyDeleteTake care of your back! I overdid my computer work in the early part of the summer. My husband talked me into scheduling a Swedish massage, and the therapist really chewed me out for how I'd neglected my poor back while working.
ReplyDeleteThanks, everyone. I definitely need to stretch the second I feel uncomfortable. I absolutely know better. No meds today. I'm hoping to get caught up on reading your posts this weekend.
ReplyDeleteI was able to get 16 chapters edited since last Saturday even with the last couple of days off. I only have 6 more to edit before I give it to my CP in a week. That's probably worth the pain. Maybe not.
I am so sorry to hear you've hurt your back Tonja. I hope it gets better soon and enables you to complete your goals.
ReplyDeleteSorry that you're in so much pain. I hope that you're able to take it easy this weekend. It's amazing how much you're able to accomplish under the worst conditions. Try not to overdue it, and feel better soon! Julie
