M Pax at Wistful Nebulae is one of my favorite bloggers. I've read several of her short stories and loved them all. She is offering The Backworlds as a free-read on Smashwords and Feedbooks in anticipation of the July release of Stopover at the Backworlds' Edge, the next book in the series.
The Backworlds: In the far future humanity, bioengineered to deal with different environments, has spread out to other planets in the galaxy, called the Backworlds. After the war with their creators, the Backworlders are scattered across scant pickings. Hoarding meager fortunes in his favor, Craze’s father kicks Craze out, steals his gal and brands him an outlaw on the homeworld. Stripped of family and friends, with little money and even less knowledge of the worlds beyond his own, Craze faces an uncertain future. Boarding the transport to Elstwhere, he vows to find success and make his father pay.
Ooh, this looks cool. Never heard of them before, but I'll have to check them out. Thanks!

DeleteSounds like a cool read. But I need time. I'm glad to be reading blogs right now. Glowstick fell asleep. I prepared mine with him in my lap this morning. He likes the computer and would love to put it in his mouth.
