Awards and Stuff

An Award
I recently got a Liebster award from KD at A Coffee Driven & Adventure Bound Life.  Thank you, KD.

I got this award in the past, but didn't realize I forgot to expose my Awards page when I redid my blog from it's previous daisy look to this new stone-cold gray one.

A Thank You
I'm so excited for all the new followers!  This time last year, I was talking to myself here.  Thanks for stopping by and staying.

Random Stuff
Why is there nothing on TV?  And why do I keep paying extra for cable TV when there's nothing on?  One of us should write something excellent for TV, something worth watching that people don't have to pay extra to see.

I had the idea to lose 2 pounds a month this year.  Apparently, I only work well under extreme pressure and with unattainable goals. I think I may have gained weight - I'm afraid to check.

Lately, I've gotten random emails to the address I only use for this blog asking me to do a book review or be a beta for software (weight-loss software).  I'm going to assume this is just spam since it's coming from no one I know in even a virtual way.  I wonder if everyone is getting the same emails.  I worry that if I open or respond to these emails something more terrible than a computer virus will happen.  It could be a portal right?  Wouldn't that be awesomely terrible and hilarious if the beings from another dimension got us with the spam?  It's a story only nerds would read only so they can criticize the feasibility of email as a portal.

I hope you all are having a fun and/or productive weekend.  I took a break today.  Tomorrow I write.

  1. I love the idea of a story about beings from another dimension getting us with spam! HEE!

I haven't gotten any spam asking me to do a book review, but I've all sorts of other random spam.

Hope you're enjoying your break! :D

    1. I've gotten plenty spam comments trying to sell fake handbags. Do people buy fake handbags? I honestly don't get the fascination with any kind of purse. I just want one that will hold a manuscript, journal, a bunch of pens, and have compartments that aren't black holes.

  2. If you did write a TV show it'd probably end up being like the episode of "Family Guy" where Brian writes a smart, edgy TV pilot that the network turns into the most banal piece of crap ever. That's generally what they do, especially on network TV.

    1. That's actually a very good point. Maybe I should just watch 'Family Guy' - the 'Something, Something, Something, Something Darkside' DVD is right here on my desk.

  3. With regards to your e-mail, don't open! I've only recieved one unknown requesting I beta-read mass quantities of his books and poems for review. The guy sent me a load on a PDF I haven't opened yet. Guess he doesn't have any friends in the writer world.

Television is actually the brainwash box of the century. It poison's peeps minds into believing illusions that certain things are good for you. :) I know, I'm cynical. Right?

    1. "Brainwash box of the century" - maybe that's how the aliens from another dimension are getting us, one sit-com at a time. :)

    1. I didn't open it. Just wondering if real people sent requests for book reviews and critiques without having left the first comment on your blog. I could understand if I did book reviews here. I think I mostly blog about how I don't have time to read....

  5. I cut the cable cord a long time ago. I hardly ever watch television (though I'm hooked on Downton Abbey on PBS).

I cut my cable bill to zero and use the money to go to conferences instead. It more than pays my way.

    Congrats on the LIebster!

    1. My little guy is a PBS Kids junkie. I would suffer if I didn't have TV. Great idea to repurpose the money for conferences. Thanks.

  6. I've never been asked to review books - spam or not - I'd at least be flattered. Congrats on your award.

    1. It was definitely spam - I saw the same request word for word on someone else's post. Maybe he's just trying to get lots of people to click on his Smashwords page - not sure if that helps him. I dunno. Thanks.
