OK, I finally read the blogger help page and found that if you are having the login issue, you should get to blogger using http://www.blogger.com/ instead of your blog, log off, and log back on but uncheck the remember me button. When I did that, I was able to leave a comment on a blog that had word verification enabled.
I think that there is a problem with logic behind the remember me checkbox and the storing or accessing of login tokens on the site...but that's just me being logical.
I will acquiesce and log on and off every time and leave you all lots of comments this week.
