Guest Post: Kid In The Front Row

Today, I have a guest post for you from one of my favorite bloggers, Kid in the Front Row

Kid in the Front Row has an outstanding film blog, but I love his inspirational posts the most.  His words have kept me writing on days I wanted to give up.  He has taught me to take the time to work on my writing no matter how long that takes and to write for my one percent, the people that will get my writing, without worrying about the other ninety-nine.

His post is a lovely musing that I hope you will enjoy as much as I did.

Thinking Of You

When you like someone it's scary isn't it. You like them and you wonder where they are and who they're thinking about at this precise moment in time. And the chances that it's you are so minimal.

And even if they're thinking of you they could be thinking of someone else too. Everyone is getting over someone and everyone is dreaming of their own thing.

The chances of it working out are too daunting to think about. When did it ever work out before?

The things you like the very most about someone are the things you can't share with them. You learned that when you were heartbroken at fifteen. Everyone was heartbroken at fifteen and no-one recovered. Turns out saying you love something about someone creeps them out and leaves them yelling "too soon too soon too soon!"

At fifteen you don't realize you're thirty five in barely a heartbeat. And your Grandparents are waving goodbye and nothing is too soon -- everything was whatever they made of it.

It's remarkable anyone ends up with anyone. We're all walking through the rain, damaged and heart-broken. We're secretly holding out for one better and hiding away from one who really cares.

Maybe it can work out. It probably has done for many people over the years. You try to play the game. You roll your dice and you hope the one you're thinking of is at least on the same board. You hope.

  2. I remember those days. I remember the crushing blow when Robert Knight showed his affections to a buck-toothed Janie. I was soooo crushed.

  3. Yes, Tonja, write for your 1%. Someday, you'll be glad you did.

Yes, odds are, things aren't going to work out. When you meet the right person, you know it.

  5. Elisabeth - I love the line about going from 15 to 35 so quickly. It's like a blur for me.

Shelly - Funny how everything seems so dramatic at 15.

M Pax - In the moment sometimes it's hard to have that clarity, especially when you're younger.

    Peggy - I can't even remember his name. :)

Mind you I didn't expect anything else.
I'm glad you find the Kid's blog as inspirational as I do.
Good luck with your writing in the future.
